2015 is in full swing, have you figured out what…
I wanted to make a bold impression with a new haircut for the fall. I thought the best way to do this would be with a modern short and choppy cut. I wanted to get some ideas of the best choppy hairstyles out there, so I pulled up a search engine and typed in “hairstyles 2017 choppy.” I threw in the 2017 to make sure I got ideas for modern styles, not something from the ’70s that looked like it belonged on my mom!
I learned more than I expected about why I would get a choppy cut! Since I have very fine hair, I should apparently choose a style that uses point-cut ends. That will give me extra volume and more interesting styling options than I have now.
I figure I will take a bunch of these pictures of models with choppy hairstyles to my salon and let the stylist look at them. She always has the best suggestions for how I might style my hair better. She’ll be the one to ask whether or not a choppy style is even going to work for me.
I’m not sure how short I want to go, whether I want to go all the way to a bob cut or leave it as a mid-length cut. There are choppy options for both. If I cut off all my hair I’ll have to wait for it to grow back in to get a different style.
Getting a short, choppy haircut also limits my options for formal styling. You can’t really create an up-do out of only a few inches of hair. I won’t be able to put curls in it either. The main advantage of a shorter cut is going to be everyday wear, since it will look really good without a lot of work.
Maybe I should dye my hair at the same time I have it cut. A lot of celebrities are going with crazy dye colors these days, like pink, orange, and turquoise. It would certainly be a bold change! Plus, if I cut my hair short and dye it at the same time, I’ll get a dye tip effect as it grows out, which might look pretty cool.
I’ve never had a choppy cut before, so I will have to ask the stylist for the best ways to care for it. The best would be if it’s a sort of “set it and forget it” style, where I just need to brush and maybe add mousse or hairspray in the morning. Doing anything too complicated interferes with my beauty sleep, and I need that!
I guess my search for “hairstyles 2017 choppy” on Google is just a place to start. If I’m really considering cutting my hair into a short, chunky style, I should talk to my stylist first. Who knows, she might have some better suggestions of styles that will make even more of a splash! I’ll have to get her advice on dyes as well.
